It’s never a good idea to use electricity around water; bathroom spaces always have a certain amount of humidity and steam as well as water in them. You may end up using electrical devices such as hair dryers and shavers when you are in this bathroom and the shower and bathtub areas always have some water. These can prove to be an electrocution hazard or a fire hazard and it’s important to be extra careful when you are using any electrical appliances in the bathroom.

We all need water to maintain health and hygiene. However, it’s also an excellent conductor of electricity. This means you can easily experience shock when you are standing in a water puddle and touch an electrical appliance. If your skin in wet, that gives the electricity an easier path and it can pass through your body in an unhindered manner.

That can be extremely dangerous as electrical shock can cause heart arrhythmia, burns and can damage your nervous system and lead to death too. If the grounding is improper or if the wiring is poorly installed, that can start a fire as well. And so, it is crucial to maintain electrical safety when you are in bathroom spaces.

Here are some useful tips to you can follow to avoid an emergency:

Anyone who has ever tried to plug in an appliance only to find that it wouldn’t turn on is familiar with how frustrating electrical outlet wiring problems can be. The whole purpose of having outlets is the convenience, but that goes right out the window when they stop working without warning. Although a dead outlet might automatically seem like a big problem, sometimes it can be due to a simple issue. This isn’t always the case, of course — sometimes there will be electrical outlet wiring problems that can only be addressed by a professional, particularly when the issue is with your outlet’s wiring.

You might be able to save yourself a call to an electrician if your outlet problem is something easily fixed. You can even resolve some minor issues without the use of tools! If you know what steps to take, you may be able to figure out if the dead outlet is something you can remedy yourself. If you discover the problem is something that should be handled by a professional, don’t take any chances. Messing around with wiring can put you in danger and damage your electrical system instead of making the problem go away.

A simple issue can quickly turn into a very expensive one if you aren’t careful. Here are some easy things to try that won’t put you in any danger:

Hy Goldman celebrates family and an outstanding career.  He said he will retire on his 100th birthday this Saturday August 17, 2013, but time will tell!  We intend to keep him shining brighter than a Capitol chandelier.

His family, son Stanley and daughter-in-law Moya, say that “Hy” is stubborn.  He stubbornly holds unto the values that keep him strong, and this may be the key to his longevity.  He wastes nothing and appreciates everything. “Every day is a gift,” he says with a smile and a quiet graciousness that uplifts the spirits of all who come to greet him.
